Custom Woodworking is our specialty. We also build barns, cottages, pool house and even chicken coops. We have been in business on the Connecticut Shoreline since 1978 and bring 39 years of experience building in the Long Island Sound environment. We work on residential projects of all sizes. Originally from Maine, young Ben Townsend's family moved to Clinton in 1966 where he finished High School and then College for Mechanical Engineering. Coming from a family of tradesmen, his calling was carpentry. He married, started his business and as time went on the family and workload grew. In 1985 the Townsends settled in the Griswold family home on Green Hill Road. Townsend Builders, Inc. has been serving customers throughout the local area, including shoreline towns from Niantic to Greenwich, for 39 years.
The addition also has a new Dining Room between the new garage and existing cape house. It has a nice big bay window in the front and a large skylight on the back side of the roof for plenty of light even on a cloudy day. We added a new chimney for a wood stove and re-sided the main house with cedar clapboards. The owners liked this natural look and so do I. It is maintenance free as is.
