Novinger's Inc in Harrisburg, PA is a premier specialty contractor primarily serving Pennsylvania and several bordering states. Although the majority of our work consists of fabricating unitized exterior wall panels and applying fireproofing material, we also do structural framing, hang drywall, and install ceilings. Our company was founded in 1928 by James Dewalt Novinger (1894 to 1980) in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. James adapted his interest in woodworking to applying wooden lath for plastering projects. As the demand for plastering began to decline, the company switched to hanging and finishing drywall. The company remained small until it began to bid on larger commercial projects. Additional specialties were added as regional needs changed. Our founder probably did not envision the large, comprehensive subcontracting business that Novinger's Inc has become, but he would recognize with pride how his commitment to quality is reflected in the successful company that is now his legacy.
Building Description - New, mixed use (retail and student housing) development near Temple University - 470,000 square feet - a 12-story tower connected to a 19-story wing connected by a seven-story bridge - Addition to our previous job (The View at Montgomery). Novinger's Inc. Work - Fabricate and install three wall panel types: 1) EIFS (exterior insulation and finish systems) 2) ACM (aluminum composite material) and 3) corrugated cladded panels. Panel colors are orange, red, white, and gray. Window receptors were installed in our shop.
Our mega panel projects range from one-story retail buildings with thin-brick cladding to 50-story mixed-use projects. We have experience with a wide variety of wall types and external cladding components. Using the project architectural and structural drawings, our staff creates shop drawings for use by the shop foremen. These drawings are then reviewed, modified as directed, and then eventually approved by the architect and also by a structural engineer before fabrication begins. We frequently build mock-up panels to send to outside consultants to test panel durability and weather-resistance before finalizing our shop drawing designs.

Applied fireproofing material protects steel columns, beams, metal decking and joists from the effects of heat generated during a fire and may also provide some acoustical dampening and thermal insulation. This passive fire protection method should allow building occupants more time to evacuate during a fire and also give first responders more time to save a building structure. We have been providing fireproofing services for more than 25 years. It takes time to learn how to mix and apply different types of material in changing environmental conditions and different building designs.
