When I was in high school, my cousin said I could work for him on roofing jobs on Saturdays for $25 a day. I loved the work and worked for him in the summer months, too. After graduation, I worked for a commercial roofing company before I decided to start my own roofing business. My wife, Rosa, and I were new parents and determined to make the business work. Here we are, 36 years later, still running the business with a bigger crew and a few more trucks. I still take an active role in every project, supervising jobs and managing crews.
