Search YouTube and you will find a large number of stories about the consumer issue of unlicensed individuals and businesses posing as legitimate locksmiths. Those engaged in these activities use bait and switch techniques regarding pricing at a time when the consumer is quite vulnerable - locked out of their house or vehicle, or unable to lock a door in their home. With little or no training, the imposters often use brute force techniques (such as drilling out a lock), causing property damage and increasing the cost even further for the unsuspecting consumer.
