Outdated ‘builder's oak' cabinets. Over the years you may have installed new hardware and even replaced the countertops, but the old cabinets are still there. What are your options? Undertake a major kitchen demo and start from scratch? Paint the old cabinets? Unless the plan calls for a drastic change in the entire kitchen layout, it usually doesn't make sense to do a complete tearout and replacement of all the cabinetry. Tearouts mean plumbing, drywall and dust. Lots and lots of dust. As for painting, painted oak cabinets tend to look like, well, painted oak cabinets.
Look familiar? Started with golden-orange builder's oak. Refaced with a factory-finishe d solid maple frame door, covered the boxes and frames in factory finished hardwood - no RTF or laminate. Added some panel details and reduced the spacing between doors for a clean, updated look.
Loving this rustic maple, feels like a luxury mountain home. More pics when I finish.
