The 2020 CAVALCADE TOUR OF HOMES was a huge success! NIHBA strives to be politically heard and urges our members to forge relationships with your State Reps and learn about important legislative issues that impact our industry.

The Northern Illinois Home Builders Association ARBITRATION PROGRAM provides a service in arbitrating disputes between contractors and home buyers/owners. It is intended to provide an alternative to legal action and help resolve disputes in less time and lower cost to both parties. It is in compliance with and falls under the State of Illinois Uniform Arbitration Act and is recognized by the State of Illinois court system. If you're in the market for a new home, you should shop for your builder as carefully as you shop for your home. Whether you are buying a custom built home, subdivision house, or a townhouse, you want to know that you are buying a good quality home from a reputable builder. Here are a couple of tips to help you choose a builder. Visit your local home builders' association website to review their list of builders who construct homes in your area. They are located in the member directory. Visit the online real estate section of your local newspaper for builders and projects.

2016 Texas Hold'em Event at Parksite! Congratulations to our Jackpot winners! Tom Rydberg with 1st Advantage Mortgage took 1st place, Mark Landstrom with Landstrom Engineering won 2nd place, and Jim Stump with Nicor came in 3rd place. Fun was had by all! Congratulations Chili Chefs Steve Martin with West Suburban Concrete, Chad Kurtz with Brakur Cabinets and Heather Runge with Nicor! A fantastic evening with great food! A Presidential Citation was presented to Allan Drewes with Old Towne Custom Builders (NIHBA), Pete Stefani with Kings Court Builders (NIHBA), John Cooney with Cooney Corso & Moynihan, Heather Runge with Nicor Gas (NIHBA).

Participation in NIHBA's Committees is an excellent way to get involved in the Association's activities! It also provides great networking opportunities and the chance to support the efforts of the home building industry throughout Northern Illinois. This committee is responsible for reviewing the monthly financial statements and for providing oversight and stewardship for the Association's assets. This committee meets to discuss educational opportunities for NIHBA members that will address the problems and challenges we are faced with in our home building industry.

Sooner or later you may join the millions of people who remodel their homes each year. Whether you've grown weary of your colors and want a fresh look or you've watched an HGTV show that causes an epiphany about your kitchen or bathroom - whatever the impetus before you leap in do your research! Think about traffic patterns, furniture size and placement, colors, lighting and how you expect to use the remodeled space. If your decision to remodel involves creating better access for someone with limited mobility, you may want to consider contacting a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist.
