Loren Wood Builders is a locally owned construction company with a deep commitment to the community, its people, and the built environment. Constructing and renovating structures that fit within our landscape, while staying true to the historical and architectural contexts in which they stand, is what our reputation is built on. We started out as a firm of two, with Loren and his wife Lindsay building and renovating a few projects a year and have since grown into a diverse 50-person firm, employing architects, designers, and craftspeople who share the same strong commitment to adding value to our community.
Loren Wood Builders is a family-owned business that works hard to uphold a reputation for quality, client experience, and commitment to our community. We want to help our clients realize their vision for a dream home, updated office space, or renovated and restored structure. Good design and quality craftsmanship are the values that we apply to every project. We place the same importance on each of our team members, creating a positive and engaging workplace that translates to high-quality work.
While many of our projects are larger in scope, window replacements represent one of the most common remodels that we undertake. We enjoy replacing windows because the scope is limited and easy to control, the work is done fairly quickly, and the impact is significant.
Of all the renovations that we do, I believe that porches are one of the most profound. In my opinion, a porch in our climate can add a ton of emotional value to a home, and potentially some economical value, as well. Porches give us a transition space from the inside to the outside. They allow us to experience the outdoors without being physically in the weather. A covered screen porch can also mitigate sun and bugs, effectively enlarging your living space for at least 3 seasons of the year.
For many of us, the kitchen is the center of living and entertaining in our homes. However, most homes in Bloomington were built in an era when kitchens were smaller and were intentionally separated from the home. Given this juxtaposition, one of our most common remodels is opening up and enlarging kitchens to help modernize them and help them meet the needs of today's families. Kitchens are also one of the quicker renovation projects and tend to have an outsized impact on a home. Reach out to us for a free consultation if you are interested in exploring the possibility of updating your kitchen.
Loren Wood Builders brings the same level of attention to detail and highly positive client experience to our commercial work that we have developed over the years in our residential work. Our clients can expect the same core values in all of our work. We understand that your return on investment is directly related to keeping strict budgets and timelines. Take a look at our commercial book for visuals and client reviews.
At Loren Wood Builders, we have built our reputation on high-quality craftsmanship, a focus on the client experience, and a pledge to add value to our community. We apply these values to every project that we undertake, regardless of size or scope. We make a commitment to every client to manage your timelines and budgets with transparency and efficiency. Each project for us is special and the trust we build with every new client is of the utmost importance to us. Given the personal nature of residential work, we put your concerns and needs at the forefront and work alongside you in every respect.
We had a fantastic experience with LWB! We contacted them about doing a big basement remodel after waterproofing our very leaky basement. We especially appreciated 1) their communication skills - they did a great job keeping us up to date on the stages of the project and talking through issues as they arose; and 2) their willingness to come up with creative solutions (and to think through the costs of going different routes). In particular, we needed a unique solution for our ceiling and they really put in the time and effort to to execute on our concept. We're thrilled with the final product and would recommend LWB to anyone!
I used to work for LWB at the beginning of 2020, and they do incredible work. They ended up letting me go, but it’s hard to have a bad thought about them when you look at all the amazing things they create. They have a team of people who truly love what they do for the art of it, not for the paycheck. If you want a house built right, with attention to the small details, then call Loren and his team.
We reached out to Loren Wood Builders about a possible renovation/addition to our current home without really knowing what the possibility was. From the moment we reached out initially they dove head first into the project. We knew what we wanted but they took our vision and made it a reality. We couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience from start to finish. The level of detail and care they put into the design process to make sure it was exactly what we wanted was unmatched. Once the renovation and construction started every aspect of the project was done with the highest level of professionalism and quality. It exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Also, the level of professionalism and responsiveness from everyone on staff at LWB was incredible. Always quick to respond and pick up the phone.
They also go above and beyond the scope of the project. We had something come up with our furnace unrelated to the project and they found out about it and without us even asking they came over late at night on the weekend to take a look at the issue and try and solve it. They also brought us space heaters from their workshop to make sure that if the issue couldn't be resolved. Little things like this go a long way and just go to show how serious they take their projects and they feel responsible for every aspect of their projects. I couldn't recommend Loren Wood Builders enough for any project that you have!
This workshop/barn, designed by Springpoint Architects, pc, was a really exciting project for us. It is situated on a rural site on edge of Lake Monroe, on somewhat tricky topography for a barn. The designers took advantage of the grade change to create a basement storage area along the downhill...

These clients came to us wanting a kitchen addition. Due to the bump out of the addition we were able to build a clean crawlspace for extra storage with easy access from outside. The crew built this custom insulated door with marine grade plywood and blue board insulation. . . . . . . .#...
