Although polished concrete floors are extremely durable through the densification and polishing process, they will eventually lose their beautiful shine if not properly maintained, especially if they are located in high-traffic commercial or retail facilities. The good news is that while polished concrete floors are not maintenance-free, they generally are easier to maintain than other types of decorative concrete floors, since they require no waxing or sealers. If you are dealing with salt stains or your polished floor requires routine maintenance, all you need is a dust mop to remove dirt and grime accumulation.
Concrete resurfacing services are required to clean floors and prepare them for their next finish. If you have a floor that has paint or grease present from industrial operations, shot blasting is an economical method that will properly clean your flooring system. In industrial environments where industry guidelines are a factor, shot blasting is used to adhere to these standards. Shot blasting concrete is suggested by most manufacturers when installing a new coating too. The process of simultaneously cleaning and profiling the floor ensures that the epoxy coating bonds well to the concrete substrate and remains intact.
You are never stuck with the color of your concrete floor. We have a diverse color pallet of concrete dye that can bring a totally different look to your floor. Polished concrete is ideal for a variety of settings like restaurants, museums or showrooms, where the floor requires a color theme or additional contrast. At Shot Blast Inc., we use a translucent dye from AmeriPolish that penetrates and colors any cement surface. AmeriPolish Dye was created for use with polished concrete, but can be used as a base color or touchup for concrete that has received additional treatments.

Thanks to advances in polishing equipment and techniques, we can take new or old floors and polish them to a high gloss finish. An epoxy floor is comprised of multiple layers of epoxy. First, we start with a floor that has been prepared by shot blasting, then we apply a base coat of epoxy or primer to provide a strong bond to the concrete. After that, we apply intermediate coats of epoxy to achieve desired thickness. We finish with a topcoat that is best suited for your space. This time-lapse video shows the process of installing an epoxy/urethane high performance floor. All the above systems can be finished with a urethane topcoat for ultimate chemical and tire stain resistance.

Concrete diamond grinding is the process of using planetary equipment to grind a concrete surface in order to clean or smooth it out. We mount various diamond pads that are designed to achieve different results and finishes on your floor. Aggressive diamonds, known as "PCD's, " are used for the removal of thick materials like mastics and epoxy floors. Metal diamonds are used to hone the floor into a semi-polished look, while transitional and resin diamonds are used when polishing a floor. Call us to discuss if diamond grinding is suitable for your flooring needs.

Our concrete floor preparation contractors use machines that are modern, involve minimal clean up and are designed to safely blast your surface. Concrete diamond grinding is used to grind off existing mastics or epoxy coatings to provide a smooth, clean surface that is ready be refinished. Our "grind & seal" method is a popular service that involves grinding and resealing a space to give it a semi-polished look.
