Unistress Corporation specializes in the design, production, and construction of large scale precast/prestressed concrete structures. Unistress is a subsidiary of Petricca Industries, founded in 1968 by the Petricca family. Our manufacturing plant in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, is located halfway between New York and Boston, serving all of New England and the tri-state New York metro area. We also utilize Hudson River access to ship large product to the New York Metro area and New Jersey. Unistress products can be found in structures as varied as major highway bridges, power plant cooling towers, railway stations, micro-chip manufacturing plants, stadiums, retail and industrial buildings, casinos, and multi-level parking facilities.
Unistress is part of a family of construction companies that dates back to 1936. We still operate with the work ethic and dedication that got us where we are. But now we take on massive jobs, like fabricating 2,363 precast bridge segments for Boston's Central Artery/Harbor Tunnel Project. We also do more and more mixed use developments, with retail, commercial, parking, and housing elements, as well as bridges, roadways, and special purpose structures. Many of the components we make have about 70 dimensional specs that can be right or wrong-and that's just for one piece of product.
At Unistress, we fabricate 99% of our steel components. Steelworks, our highly automated steel fabrication plant, produces connection plate embeds, rebar cages, and other miscellaneous metal components. The plant is equipped with robotic welders, CNC-controlled rebar benders, and high-tolerance computer-controlled plasma cutters. This gives us complete control, from steel mill to finished product. The new facility also shortens our production timeline and guarantees the highest-quality fit and finish.
