There are many potential causes for the deterioration of asphalt in parking lots. This ranges from poor stone base, poor sub-base (or underlying soil), inadequate asphalt thickness, poor maintenance, and/or heavy traffic use.
When it comes to driveway installations, it’s generally recommended that the area be excavated to approximately 10 inches below the proposed finish grade. Then 6 or 7 inches of crushed gravel is place, graded, and compacted before paving.
