Hot Rubberized Crack Sealing is the process of applying a rubberized sealant into existing cracks in the asphalt pavement. The filler provides a barrier to stop water infiltration into the pavement sub-base. Sunlight oxidation of the asphalt oils and the freeze/thaw cycles of the Midwest, cause shrinkage of the pavement surface. This causes the asphalt to crack allowing water to reach the pavement underlayment, leading to base erosion.
