Micro-Surfacing has been utilized by state and local agencies on structurally sound pavements for decades. Micro-surfacing is a rapid-setting mixture of polymer-modified asphalt emulsion, dense graded aggregate, and other additives. When applied to an existing roadway, micro-surfacing improves skid resistance for safety, provides a quality wearing surface, and extends pavement life.
