ADVANCED MATERIALS SERVICES, LLC (AMS), founded in 2007, provides pavement engineering and consulting services. AMS currently supports all aspects of flexible pavement design, testing, and construction inspection, particularly for specialty pavements, such as airfields, automotive proving grounds, intermodal facilities, and racetracks. AMS also provides geotechnical support. AMS conducts research and product development testing designed to improve the quality and performance of asphalt pavements.
AMS is proud to have assisted Banks Construction in their work at the Leatherman Terminal; confirming pavement sections, revising specifications, designing asphalt mixtures, evaluating mixture options with performance tests and providing initial construction support.

First time finding "glassphalt" on a track!
Preventive maintenance is important to maximize the life of a pavement. One example of preventive maintenance is crack sealing, particularly longitudinal joints. Road America does a great job sealing their cracks. They use a rout and seal technique that lasts longer and eliminates over-banding.
A proper fog seal can require several iterations before the optimal application rate and spray bar height is reached. Bottom photo is initial shot, top photo is final shot. Also important are clean nozzles!
