Reading Asphalt was started in 1952 by Philip Cail, a Reading police officer with a strong work ethic, and a firm belief in the old-fashioned principles of honesty and integrity. In 1974, Philip passed the business onto his son Anthony, who expanded services to include commercial paving and pavement maintenance. In 2002, Anthony welcomed his son Tyler to the company, adding a 3rd generation of family experience. Every year we recommit our company to produce the very finest paving services at the most competitive possible prices.
To preserve your new driveway, it is advisable to sealcoat it after it has been paved. Sealing too soon however, may cause damage to your new drive. The best time to seal is 6-12 months after it has been paved, and every 3-5 years thereafter. We recommend your driveway go through an entire summer season before sealing, after it's been paved. Because asphalt is naturally porous, water can seep into and through paving. This not only causes deterioration, but results in ridges and upheaval due to frost and freezing.
Over the past 60 years, we have built more driveways by far than any other company. Our construction and design experience is unequalled in this industry, as is our commitment to excellence. Since 1952, through three generations, thousands of local homeowners have trusted us to produce the very finest pavement at the lowest possible price. Our clients include cities and towns, as well as top colleges, and of course residential courts.

The asphalt industry is like no other. For most companies, the opportunity to skimp on preparation and materials is not only an overwhelming temptation, it is the only way for them to win your job. Every year we excavate about 500 jobs constructed by other paving companies. Approximately 95% of those are built extremely poorly. Most are about half as thick as proposed and often have poor sub-bases as well. There is no such thing as apples to apples comparison bids in the paving business. And there are absolutely no bargains.
