Not only do we know how to repair pool cleaners, pumps and install motors but we also have a large selection of stocked parts so in most cases there is no timely wait for parts to be ordered. Our store techs have many years of repair experience and all the tools and resources required to get your equipment working quickly so you can get back to swimming! Many simple helpful repairs are free with only a minor fee for more in depth equipment problems.

Steve grew up in Fort Lauderdale and attended South Plantation High school before attending Broward College for Electronic Theory and Engineering. He started his career in the pool industry with his first job at Pinch-A-Penny in Plantation in 1983. He moved over to Basic Sun Discount Center on Peters Road where he designed and grew this warehouse business into a huge success through customer loyalty. In 1988 Steve recognized the demand and invented the first professional electronic swimming pool leak detection system, "The Leak Wizard", which spawned the current technologies still being used today.

Downtown Pools can repair any Jandy equipment problems that are under warranty at no cost to you. Jandy manufactures the best pool products on the market today, and their products rarely break down. If they do, we have got you covered. Downtown Pools strides to be different in an effort to change the way in which pools are cared for.

The problem of low pressure is usually a clogged pump basket (the basket connected to the pool pump) or skimmer baskets full of leaves. Clogged baskets restrict the flow of water into the filter, which causes low pressure. A clogged impeller (blade inside the pump) can also cause low pressure. This should not happen if your pump basket is kept free of debris and in good condition. If you have a suction type cleaner and have this problem often try adding an in-line leaf catcher between your first and second hoses from the wall.

In compliance with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act which was put in place to enhance the safety of swimming pools, spas and hot tubs. This Act sets federal mandate that suction and entrapment devices be changed to become in compliance with the new Act. This includes new pool drain covers in addition to many other changes and requirements that must be met under penalty of the law. Hayward is one of those companies that take your safety seriously. They have complied and are putting out their new safety products for residential and commercial pool safety.

Many people believe that by draining their swimming pool it will not overflow and then cause flooding in their yard. In-Ground Pools are very vulnerable to the excess water that the ground may be holding causing your pool to "float" or "pop" out of the ground. When water is in your pool the weight of the water helps to keep the excess ground water away from your pool. If you do want to slightly empty the water level I suggest that you only lower it 1 foot. The water in your pool can also help serve as a shield to protect your pool's finish from flying debris.
