Falmouth Chimney Sweep opened for business on January 1st 1980 and is still going strong into our fourth decade. Owner Joseph Bento Jr. is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Construction Supervisor and as a Master Sheet Metal Worker. Joe and our sweeps are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of American (the oldest certifying body in the country) and we are members in good standing of both the National and Massachusetts Chimney Sweep Guilds. All work is performed on the basis of the National Fire Protection Association's Standard 211, the recognized standard for chimney service professionals, and all state and local codes.
Falmouth Chimney Sweep is happy to install your stove and also to advise you on the purchase if needed. There are many choices available for customers planning to heat with a stove including wood stoves, gas stoves, and a variety of inserts. We even have a few customers who still use coal stoves, so we've seen it all and can help you pick what best suits your heating goals and budget. The ideal time to start this process is spring and summer. How large is the area you wish to heat? Is this stove going to be used as the primary source of heat, a supplemental source of heat, or for ambiance and emergencies?
As Chimney Safety Institute of America Certified sweeps, we use state of the art equipment to inspect and sweep first and second story chimneys of all kinds, including oil, wood, and gas burning chimneys. While sweeping your system we will ensure that it is in proper working order, look for problems that could prevent peak performance, and recommend what is needed to keep your system burning cleanly and safely. When necessary, Falmouth Chimney Sweep uses video inspection camera equipment to examine hidden parts of the flue.
