Our comprehensive waste management program focuses on identifying, reducing, and diverting the various waste streams created by venue operations, attendees, and clients. Components of this plan include regular staff trainings, coordination with event organizers and supplier, and opportunities for waste minimization. Our staff consistently looks to reduce the amount of waste being created, manage inevitable waste, and divert waste from landfill by means of reuse, repurposing, recycling, and composting.
Colorado is famous for our bright blue sky and fresh mountain air. Our goal at the Colorado Convention Center is to help preserve them both for generations to come. The Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD) offers eco-friendly transportation by Bus or Light Rail services within and around the City of Denver. The A-Line from Union Station runs every 15 minutes to and from the Denver International Airport.
Water quality and consumption is a major area of focus for sustainability, especially in an arid environment like Colorado. Therefore, we work to reduce our water consumption and protect our water quality. The Colorado Convention Center's water quality and conservation best practices address water quality and conservation methods including chemical management, water-efficient landscaping and irrigation, and building infrastructure (toilets, urinals, sinks, showers) efficiencies. The program tracks and records water consumption and establishes benchmarking goals.
Opened in 1990, with more than 100 professional meeting planners working together with architects to design every aspect of the building, the result was simple; a sensible, state-of-the-art facility with easy traffic flow and everything you need in a stunningly beautiful building in the heart of downtown Denver. Expanded in 2005, well-known as one of the most practical and "user friendly" meeting facilities, the Colorado Convention Center is now home to over 230+ events annually. The Colorado Convention Center is located within easy walking distance of nearly 10,000 hotel rooms, 300 restaurants, 9 theatres of the Denver Performing Arts Complex and a wide variety of shopping and retail outlets.
