Mirasol Fafco Solar carries on a tradition of energy-efficient products for the home started by George W. Egglefield in 1959 with the creation of Southern Insulation Co. For over 35 years Southern Insulation provided energy-saving alternatives for Sarasota, Charlotte and Manatee Counties. In 1977 Southern Insulation created a Solar Water Heating division which soon became Mirasol. Scott Egglefield was among the first in the state of Florida to receive the Residential Solar Contractor license in 1980 and soon after that received the State Certified Plumbing Contractor license which enabled Mirasol to install water heaters, swimming pool heat pumps and gas heaters.
