Cantiague Solar Electric is a family-owned, full-service electrical company specializing in custom solar power installations for your home or business. Owner Michael Diehl, a licensed electrician with over 30 years experience, became a solar energy pioneer on Long Island back in 2003, when he installed solar panels on his own home. He quickly became such a strong believer in the economic and environmental benefits that he became a NABCEP (North American Board of Solar Practitioners) certified solar installer so he could spread the benefits to other Long Island families and businesses.
A great one-page article about us was published in July, 2013 in the Long Island Woman Survival Guide. It is the story about how our family (and our business) got into solar installations. You'll find that our family wrestled with the same issues that you are probably considering as you examine installing solar at your home. Here's a link. The linked article was published in Newsday. It discusses the future of PSEG rates, and the fact that they are going to do nothing but go up in the future. Yet another reason to buy solar!
Cantiague Electric maintains a $95 service call rate to all our Long Island customers, whether for emergencies, general repair work or scheduled installations. Unlike other electricians, (who charge just for showing up and then tack on the cost of labor) our flat rate includes one hour of actual work. The only additional cost are for parts and local sales tax. After Hurricane Sandy, we worked as quickly as possible to re-wire home electric services in the South Shore area of Long Island. We installed hundreds of transfer switches to homes to restore heat and electrical capacity.
A custom solar energy system is one of the best investments you can make for your home or business. You need a reliable contractor with the expertise to evaluate your unique needs, and custom-design a system that will enhance your life for years to come. Unlike other contractors, we don't use pre-fab kits and we don't employ middle men. You'll be dealing directly with the experts to make sure the job is done right. With Cantiague Solar Electric you can rest assured that a licensed master electrician will be on site to oversee the entire job.
A solar inverter converts the variable DC output of the solar panels on your roof to a safe usable AC power that can be used in your home or fed into the utility grid (net metered). The inverter performs many electrical tasks simultaneously and acts as the "brain" of the PV system. Traditional PV systems are designed around a central inverter. Solar Panels are arranged in "Series Strings". The strings are connected "parallel" to the inverter. Because the solar panels are connected in series, problems can occur when individual models are shaded or when they have different directional orientations.
