Our current owner-operators are the 2nd generation of the Brennan family in the pest control industry, so you can count on us for the long run.
They are subterranean insects that search for wood constantly and can find our homes quicker then we think. By the time home owners realize they have termites its too late. These sneaky insects come up from the soil through mud tunnels from outside as well as from under the inside of our homes. Most home owners find out they have termites in the early spring time when they swarm out for their yearly mating ritual. They shed their wings, mate and then go search for soil. By this time however, termites have been feeding on your home anywhere from two to five years or more.
These little pests can show up in the spring, summer, fall, and even winter. They love our homes, especially our kitchens and bathrooms because of food and water, but they also may just be looking for shelter. We at Brennan have even found ant colonies in vacant homes with no food or running water. Spraying the home with a can of pesticide is only a band-aid and can leave your home covered in dangerous chemicals. These sprays do not get to the root of the problem because they only kill the ants you see, they never reach the nest.
We've all been to Disney land and seen Micky Mouse but no one wants to find him on their kitchen counter at home. Mice and Rats are abundant on long island and when outside populations get too big they can venture into our homes for food, water and shelter. These rodents may find there way in throughout the entire year, not just the fall and winter. Once these critters have found there way in you may find their droppings, food missing or hear scratching in the walls or ceilings. They don't need much space to get in, about the size of a dime for mice and about the size of a quarter for rats.
