While termites may seem small, their mobility and "teamwork" make them very destructive. These pests can chew through lead, asphalt, plaster, and mortar in search of wood to destroy. They like wood because that is their food source. They enter homes through soil, openings in woodwork, and rotted wood areas. If you see pellets that look like sawdust on your window sills, that may mean you have termites. If you have had your home inspected and have discovered a termite colony exist or do not know if they are still active please call our office immediately and we will do a free inspection and develop a plan of action to eliminate an active colony.
There are a few common species of ants that can make their way into your home and cause and an annoying, unsightly, and potentially dangerous mess. Carpenter ants are the large black ones that build tunneled galleries and love to make their nest in wood and sawdust. Red ants can bite and while their venom is not extremely dangerous, it will cause itchy bumps that are uncomfortable. Then there are the small brown ants that gather in massive groups. Each of these can get into your home through cracks, open windows, and spaces in the foundation or walls.
Bed bugs are tiny, oval brown insects that love to burrow in linens and soft materials such as blankets, pillows, sheets, curtains, and clothing. They feed off of animal and human blood which they can obtain through dead skin cells and biting you. They do not transmit disease; however, they lay hundreds of eggs, multiply quickly, and are an extreme nuisance. Bed bugs can enter your home undetected through luggage, clothing, and used furniture and are active at night. They move very quickly so they can be hard to catch.
Ants are one of the most common and one of the most difficult pest to control in New England. Ants can be a nuisance pest with just a few scouts in your house looking for food and invading and contaminating food. Then can harm your property by nesting in lawns, stealing seeds from seed beds or by feeding on germinating seeds; by defoliating or gnawing into plants and plant products, fostering other injurious insects like plant lice, mealy bugs and plant diseases and fungus; by gnawing holes in fabrics, and by removing rubber insulation from telephone wires or other equipment and Carpenter Ants can seriously damage wooden structures.
Andover Pest Control not only serves customers in their home, but we also take care of pest problems in commercial environments such as warehouses, office buildings, hotels, and restaurants. We have methods and equipment designed for large scale areas and will come on short notice as soon as we are available. We will determine the severity of the situation and how soon we need to come in to take care of the problem. A business can't serve customers or provide working hours for employees with pests that hinder their production, so we understand it is important to remove the pest promptly and effectively.
We control cockroaches, fleas, ticks, fleas, spiders, wasp/honey bee removal, moths, centipedes, millipedes, earwigs, and all other household pests.
Since rodents are larger pests than others, they can cause significant damage to your home and if left alone too long, can make a home unlivable. They love to rummage in cabinets and refrigerators where food is stored. They also leave their droppings behind creating a smelly, unsightly mess. If you suspect a rodent infestation, but haven't seen them yet, here are some signs to watch out for. You will most likely find the droppings and urine puddles first. If you hear squeaks, rustling, and scampering noises, they could very well be from mice or rats.
We have called Mike (Andover Pest Control) several times over the past 15 years for pest issues at our home. He has always come out quickly, dealt with the problem efficiently and without fuss, and at a price I consider very reasonable. I will continue to use his company whenever we need one.
Today I had a bit of trouble reaching him because an out-of-area competitor had done something sneaky with the Internet search and I ended up speaking with their salesman, not Mike. When I figured out what was going on, I hung up and started over. When I finally reached him, he came over (at 7 PM) and took care of a big nest of yellowjackets that we just discovered. That is some great service! It pays to deal with someone who is really local, not just a local phone number for an office 40 miles away.
This company did not do effective work for me because it didn't last. They were not helpful to me after initial work. They didn't return calls and were curt and rude. I still have the ant problem.
Here's the story: The company responded to an ant problem in my house. He sprayed all around with chemicals, and said it would take 3 weeks to be effective. He suggested that the hedges around the base of the house were too close to the building so ants could get into the house too easily. So I and two other people took on the laborious Job of trimming back so as not to damage the hedges. It seemed to solve the problem, but the ants returned after the 3 months. I called him, no answer, left a message. Still no reply. So I called again later, he listened to me, and hung up on me.
Andover Pest Control was great ! I had multiple yellow jacket wasps in the eaves of my roof. When I explained that they would need at least a 40 foot ladder to get access to them, he said, no problem! When can be there tomorrow. They got to my house, and took care of all of the wasps. They haven't been back since.
I'm not sure if what I paid was a cheap price or if i overpaid, but I really don't care because my wasp issue is gone. Totally worth the cost.
I would use them again.
I have never been treated with this level of rudeness by a business. I called to inquire about an unexpected worker at my door, in an unmarked van. The owner was dismissive and hung up on me. I called back several times and went right to voicemail. He finally picked up and when I said he was being rude I was told "You started this with an attitude". I then asked for a refund to which he sarcastically said "Ya, no problem" I asked him when that would be and he said "Good luck with that" and hung up on me again.
Mike, the owner, answered my call the first time, offered to come by within the hour to assess a bee problem we were having and upon inspection promptly began to solve the problem. He was quick and courteous, offered a solution to prevent the issue from occurring again and I couldn't be more grateful for his prompt & professional service!
Mike is prompt and professional.
The annual contract is a great deal.
This is our 3rd year with a contract and. It is much less expensive than paying a la carte.
He has shown up on holidays with just a few hours notice.
I highly recommend Andover pest control.
