We are Oregon's oldest home inspection company serving Portland, OR and surrounding areas. We have been performing high-quality home inspections for over 25 years. Unlike much of our competition, we are not a franchise or new to the business. Our inspectors are career-minded professionals with extensive backgrounds in the home inspection and building trades. Unfortunately, the recent housing ‘boom' attracted many unskilled inspectors and franchises to our area, most of which are slowly being weeded out.

Matt has performed over 5,000 inspections since first becoming licensed in 2000. He is the current owner of Crawford Inspection Services, Oregon's oldest Home Inspection Company. Matt is a 2-term past president of the Oregon Real Estate Inspector's Association, the largest such organization in the state. After nearly 20 years of inspecting houses there isn't much he hasn't seen but Matt still gets excited to learn something new every day and help out a new set of homebuyers. Not only is Matt passionate about home inspections but he also works closely with our inspectors through ongoing training and setting them up for success.

I've been inspecting homes in this area for nearly 20 years. During that time, I've had the chance to train dozens of inspectors. Most people beginning a career as a Home Inspector receive their education from industry standard training materials available in the US or Canada. These courses are generally a good starting point. However, I'm always surprised at what recent graduates of a "Home Inspector School" don't know about homes in our local area. Our weather is unique and different. The ages of houses vary greatly.

An electric service panel is one of the most important safety devices in your home. The panel's main function is to continuously monitor the amount of electricity that's travelling to various places in your house and to turn off if too much is being called for in a certain area. The reason too much electricity can be a problem is that the wires in the house are sized for a given load and when they are overworked they overheat and can cause a fire. Most electrical equipment manufacturers specify a service life of an electric panel somewhere around 40 years so if yours is older than this you should really consider updating it to maintain the overall safety in your house.
