Al knew firsthand the power of addiction and homelessness, and with the help of his family, he spent 8 years rebuilding his own life and career. After his own addiction recovery, his dream was to provide a central, day-time center for people who are homeless and give them the tools needed to rebuild their lives, just as he had needed. Located at 1149 Railroad Avenue in Rockford, Carpenter's Placehas a large day room with a home-style atmosphere, case management area, bathrooms, showers, storage for personal belongings, kitchen, classrooms, art room, laundry facility, donation room, and office space.
The mission of Carpenter's Place is to provide the tools necessary for rebuilding the lives of homeless adults. We've been able to do that for the past 20 years through the blessings of God and the extraordinary support of kind and generous individuals, churches, clubs, businesses and organizations. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has made this life-changing work possible! On average, four homeless men and women secure housing, and two gain employment each week we are here at Carpenter's Place.
The majority of our guests have very severe and urgent needs in almost every area of life. Because their needs are so diverse and require many specialists, Carpenter's Place aggressively seeks to develop collaborations and alliances, both in and out of the local community, which allow the core issues in all 14 areas of an individual's life to be addressed effectively. We have invested much time and energy in developing and utilizing any and all of the available resources in Rockford that may facilitate our mission to our guests.
We also have staff members who can come speak to your school group, workplace, church or other organization. Whether 5 minutes or 50, we can come and share what is happening at Carpenter's Place. To schedule a tour or presentation, call (815) 964-4105 ext. 211 or email KayL@carpentersplace.org.
