RMTC has been involved in the planning and design of major wastewater facilities throughout Hawaii and the Pacific, including the 82 MGD Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant serving metropolitan Honolulu. RMTC has been steadily involved in Department of Defense projects as Prime A-E Consultant, subconsultant to other A-E firms, and members of design-build teams. Our experience includes leadership of open-ended contracts, single facility sitework designs, as well as complex installation-wide upgrades, master plans, and surveys.
RMTC's Civil Engineering Department, with its staff of project managers, design engineers, and drafting technicians, is one of the largest and most accomplished in the state of Hawaii. Our experience extends far beyond Hawaii's shores to Guam, Asia, and remote areas of the Pacific. We have provided engineering planning, design, and construction support services to municipal, state, and federal clients as well as our private sector client base of land owners, developers, and other organizations. Within the past 30 years, the firm has been responsible for projects which support the core of our state's economy, including new military facilities and base redevelopment, thriving mixed-use communities, over 300 miles of roadways in Hawaii and the Pacific, more than $150 million in harbor infrastructure, and major airfield and airport improvements.
In 1974, RMTC was the first company in the state of Hawaii to offer Construction Management services to government and private sector clients. That proud tradition continues today through our full-time staff of resident managers, construction engineers, and inspectors. Over the past 10 years, our firm has overseen over $900 million worth of construction activity, including improvements to airports, highways, harbors, and wastewater facilities, as well as schools, recreational facilities, and residential projects throughout the state.
