Established in 1910, McElhanney is an employee-owned company that provides surveying, engineering, GIS & remote sensing, community planning, landscape architecture, and environmental services. We have 30+ locations across Western Canada, and specialty satellite offices in Newfoundland and Labrador and Florida (USA), to service cities, communities & parks, energy & resources, and transportation sectors. We operate locally in the communities where we live and work and share staff resources from across our company.
Our landscape architects cover a diverse spectrum of projects in the public and private sectors. We use a multidisciplinary approach to adapt a balance between built and natural environments while modifying the landscape for human use and enjoyment through design, planning, and management. Our trail experts are an eclectic group of experienced, and passionate trail users who have planned some of Western Canada's most epic outdoor adventures. From trails through downtown cores, to remote backcountry trails, to world class mountain bike race course design, we do them all.
Our planners bring a strategic approach to helping our clients realize their goals. Challenges form opportunities for us: We use this information and stakeholder engagements to offer insights on best practices and risk mitigations, creating implementable plans that move the dial toward their vision. Our comprehensive understanding of provincial planning legislation, as well as our experience working with local governments, means we can capably administer the development approval process on behalf of property owners, builders, and developers.
Recently, at a company-wide virtual townhall meeting, McElhanney executive members shared their thoughts on diversity at our workplace. They weren't afraid to show their vulnerability and talk about their own personal journeys as well as share commitments on how to improve diversity at McElhanney.
