TOM AND PENNY Ogawa opened Lighting Concepts and Design almost right next to his brother Yasuo's Cowabunga! Computers business, but not intentionally -- it's just the way it worked out. The signage in front of the store's parking lot at 1931 S. Beretania Street just says Lighting Concepts, to keep it simpler to read, Tom said. The store opened Jan. 16 but the Ogawas didn't throw a grand-opening party for several weeks, to make sure everything was just right. The couple, parents of a toddler, leased two floors for a showroom, inventory and a second-floor consultation lounge where interior designers can meet with clients over lighting choices, for instance.
A new lighting showroom is the source for superb optical effects. If you haven't visited Lighting Concepts, you're missing quite an experience. Lighting Concepts is a new lighting source for Hawaii. This two-story light emporium features a diversity of appurtenances and modern concepts from a multitude of lighting companies. It also offers custom artwork by local artisans. Owner Tom Ogawa and his friendly staff are well informed and readily share their expertise with clients and contractors. Entering the showroom is extraordinary.
Swain of Lighting Concepts and DesignTom Ogawa wants to light up your life. His 3,000-square-foot showroom, Lighting Concepts and Design, helps weekend warrior remodelers add a special touch to their homes. Ogawa notes that a line of five hand-blown glass fixtures from the mecca of master glass blowers in Murano, Italy, is part of the store's best decorative pieces sought after by architects, contractors and interior designers. Ogawa subcontracts out installations, and says people seem to appreciate that.
