MHAworks is a commercial architectural firm providing planning, architecture, and interior design to clients throughout North Carolina from offices in Asheville, Durham, and Greenville. Founded in 1988, the firm has grown to one of the largest in the state with a focus on superior client service.
We maintain that our high standard of service can only be upheld by a local presence. As such, MHAworks has regional offices in Durham, Greenville, and Asheville that consist of highly experienced architects, planners, and interior designers.
We understand the importance a historical building can bring to the character of a community. Through this, we believe in preserving buildings that have survived generations through adaptive reuse. Building preservation is not only a responsible alternative to new construction, but it also marries the personality and tradition of past distinctions of the community to that community's future growth and expansion. Understanding all of the factors considered in historic preservation makes MHAworks a leading expert in these sensitive and significant architectural designs.
At MHAworks, we are committed to using green architecture to design buildings and spaces that help to improve the health, productivity, and overall well-being of its occupants. In addition, our LEED-accredited Architects seek to implement sustainable design practices into our projects to ensure the needs of future generations and our natural resources. As a means to this end, we have adopted the "2030 Challenge". The 2030 Challenge is an initiative that calls on the global building sector to immediately reduce energy usage by fifty percent in new buildings and major renovations in order to avoid hazardous climate change.
Our interior design team works closely with clients to create environments that maximize both aesthetics and functionality. Designers collaborate seamlessly with the entire project team at every stage of the design process to create interior spaces that carefully consider each client's budget and style. We understand that the design challenges and goals for each space are unique, and because of this we are focused on achieving the best possible design for each client. MHAworks designers have extensive experience working on a wide range of projects, including those in the multi-family and mixed-use, science and technology, medical, corporate, k-12 and higher education, hospitality, and retail sectors.
Planning and programming a project involvesmore than implementing the spatial needs of the client and designing accordingly. Our planning and programming methods are collaborative, inclusive, and well balanced. We continuously work with the client, users and builders to understand the physical environment, the regulatory requirements, the operational use and the budget in an effort to collectively design a beautiful space that fulfills the requirements, fits the needs, and caters to the desires of our clients.
