Terrytown was founded in 1979 by Gary Kowalke. He started working out of his garage on Terrytown Road in Baraboo, Wi. That is how the name of his company was born. In the 80's the company moved to town when Gary purchased the building at 465 South Boulevard in Baraboo which is still the current location of the main office. In 2005 Gary purchased Golz Ultimate Service in Portage which added HVAC services to the lineup Terrytown offers. Gary is a lifelong resident of Baraboo and has a tremendous understanding of the area's residents and their needs.

We have all heard of a furnace and an air conditioner but what on earth is a heat pump? Good question, not a lot of people know the answer. A heat pump looks like the unit that sits outside of your house which you call the air conditioner. But here's the difference, a heat pump is a heater in the winter and an air conditioner in the summer. In heating mode it pulls the heat out of the outdoor air and transfers (pumps) it into your home. Heat pumps do tend to lose their efficiencies however in very cold temps, mostly lower than 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's not the heat it's the humidity right? We've heard this a million times. All homes need dehumidification no matter where you live. A whole house dehumidifier will pull air from all rooms in your home through the return air ducts. The moisture is pulled from the air and then sends dry comfortable air back through your home. Dehumidifiers work in conjunction with your air conditioner to keep your house at a healthy humidity level or it can even work alone on days where humidity levels are slightly raised but you don't need the air conditioning system on.
