Thanks to the IACC International Association of Color Consultants for providing this information about the organization. The IACC began in Hilversum, Holland in 1957. Founding members included approximately 50 architects, interior architects, designers, scientists and artists from 12 countries. The inspiration was an acute shortage of professional color consultants. Furthermore, there was an absence of competent training in the field. Therefore, in 1958, Dr. Heinrich Frieling established the the IACC interdisciplinary education/accreditation program.

Q: What does a color consultant do? An architectural color consultant will help you make color selections for paint, interior and exterior. Some color consultants can also help you select product colors for all related building materials on your project. Q: Do you do more than select paint colors? A: Because all materials-natural and man-made-have color, everything is subject to a color decision. In a building, this includes roofing, siding, stone work, and interior materials. It all has to work together.
