Habitat for Humanity offers home repairs with affordable financing to qualified homeowners. The homeowner must be a full time resident of the home. Mortgage, property taxes, and homeowners insurance accounts must be current. This program is not available to landlords, tenants, land contract holders or trailer home residents. Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity believes everyone deserves a decent place to live. Habitat offers a hand up, not a hand out, to low-income families who seek affordable homeownership or home repairs. We make no profit from the sale of our homes or home repairs. Since 1983, Habitat has helped more than 200 families build and buy and repair homes. Without Habitat's affordable mortgages and repair loans, and no-profit housing solutions, many families have no opportunity to own homes or preserve the homes they own.

In 1983, a group of inspired Kalamazoo leaders took a leap of faith to create opportunities for low-income families to build and buy affordable homes in our community. They founded Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity (Habitat), now one of the oldest Habitat affiliates in the country and one of the largest affiliates in Michigan. Thanks to our founders' vision and the support of the community, more than 200 families have become Habitat homeowners. Building on our vision of a world where everyone deserves a decent place to live, Habitat launched a home repair program in 2014.
