Operating from a sound financial base, Fountain now directly employs the technical expertise of over 140 skilled tradesmen. It's taken time and 3 generations to grow into the company it is today. In 1959 D.G. "Sonny" Fountain started a residential electrical contracting business. The firm grew quickly and was soon performing large and difficult commercial projects such as the Mississippi R&D Center, Baptist Hospital in Jackson, and St. Dominic Health Center in Jackson.
Having evolved over the past 60 years from a residential electrical contractor to a true full service general contractor, Fountain is not atypical builder. We have the in-house staff to handle all your facility needs and the management experience to regularly complete projects as simple as minor interior renovations or as complex as the Jackson Convention Center or Mississippi Children's Museum. Our typical projects are commercial or institutional buildings. We pride ourselves in our ability to work in owner occupied settings, and do so in many difficult environments such as hospitals, churches, telephone company operations, and various industrial facilities.
Beginning solely as an electrical contract in 1959, the industry's electrical needs have changed dramatically. Fountain Construction's electrical division stays current by broadening our experience to cover the many applications of electric power and communications. The scope of our operations includes all types of public and private buildings, manufacturing and processing plants, and institutional buildings. We install electrical systems for a broad range of civil projects such as lock and dams, flood control projects, and waste treatment plants.
Fountain Construction's mechanical division performs in every area of the mechanical industry; from material handling and process piing, to plumbing and HVAC systems. We supply the highest quality workmanship and materials required for many specialized systems such as steam, compressed air, medical gases, chemicals, fuel oil, and exhaust gases.
Fountain Construction Company is NOT a typical general contractor! In addition to general construction project management, we have the in-house ability to perform work that is traditionally "subbed out." With large scale electrical, mechanical, and sheet metal fabrication divisions, Fountain Construction can also perform masonry, concrete, crane & rigging, and earthwork on a smaller scale. These in-house capabilities allow maximum control over project schedules and budgets. Fountain Construction's sheet metal division is a full-service custom metal fabrication shop. We have complete facilities for designing, fabricating, installing, and forming sheet metal. Some of our specialties include handrails, custom commercial cooking appliances, architectural metal components, tanks and containers, ductwork, black iron work, metal concrete forms, and even custom playground equipment.
