TEC C&D is owned and managed by a husband and wife team of project managers. We have been in the plumbing, construction and interior design businesses for over 25 years. I, Dawn Burke, am a Trained Interior Designer by trade. I was fascinated by commercial interior design and I had my own business in Manhattan, but I always wanted to get into construction. I enjoy the structural side of design. I met Bill Burke, my husband, when he was a licensed plumber in New Jersey and he was doing a lot of new construction work already.
Our 25+ years of experience in the plumbing and construction industry paired with our philosophy of simplicity and treating our clients as good friends have earned us a good reputation in the community. We understand that when we are doing repairs in a home or construction, our clients are entrusting us with their most treasured asset. That's why we correspond by doing the best job we can and making sure our clients feel comfortable and understand the process of the work we need to do for them. Residential plumbing encompasses a wide array of services.
We offer all types of commercial construction services, which range from lowering a ceiling to changing the layout of your office space, redoing a bathroom, or anything else you may need that pertains to your office or your retail space. Whether it is updating a kitchen, modernizing a bathroom, or even purchasing a home that needs some updates or an addition, the thought alone can be intimidating. In today's market many of us have decided to stay in the home we are currently in. So we want to customize our home to reflect our taste.
A kitchen is the heart of a home and it is pulsating with energy. Everyone revolves around the kitchen. Even if you do not cook, you are in there every day. You can almost feel and hear the heart beat of the house in a kitchen with all the excitement and movement that takes place in it. I remember growing up my grandmother's house had a swinging door from the dining room to the kitchen. In the older homes the kitchens always seemed to be placed out of the way. Nowadays the kitchen is centered in most homes and often opens into the dining room.
A room addition is a great way to maximize your living area without moving to a new home. If you live in Florida and live in a gated community, you may not be able to do a room addition, due to homeowners associations' codes, but you may be able to add a room inside without altering the look of your home on the outside. A common request in Florida is to build a guest suite or guest house, complete with bathroom and kitchen. This provides your guests with independence and intimacy, aside from convenience and comfort both for you as a host and for them as guests.
There are times when a homeowner wants to do work on their home or office. This may be a small job for a contractor, and yet it may be too large or complex for a handyman. We offer many services to fill this need. Whether it is design consultation, space, planning, cabinetry, trim work, plumbing, kitchen design and bath design, we can do that for you. Home repairs are the perfect time to consider replacing what you have with a green type of product. You may find that the initial outlay may be a little higher then but the long-term costs are lower.
Here you are, standing on the property you now own with your blueprints in hand and you ask your contractor: "Who's going to be my plumber?" The best answer for you would be TEC Construction & Development. Why TEC C&D, you may ask. Well, here is why. Very few plumbing companies will sit down with a homeowner, review their plans and discuss options for the new construction plumbing. Sure, everyone knows you can select faucets that are pretty, but there is more to it than that. Here are some sample issues to discuss with the plumbing contractor of your new home.
Weve been in the plumbing business for over 25 years and we have extensive experience with commercial plumbing services. If you own a small business or office building, we are licensed and insured to do any and all plumbing work that you may require. Whether its a service call to let us know you need a leaky faucet checked or you need to remodel the bathroom or redo the plumbing, we can do it. We also do the plumbing in new commercial buildings and office buildings as well as in multi-family unit condos.
You have a sink full of food waste and you start to push it down the drain, flip the switch to turn your garbage disposal on and nothing happens. Have you had this happen to you? Perhaps more often than any other appliance, a garbage disposal unit is used many times a day and is functional and practical for the whole household. Another aspect to look at is how garbage disposals are both a practical and environmentally responsible way to help manage the more than 31 million tons of solid waste that comes from food scraps, which are generated in the US each year.
At TEC C&D we have the know-how and the experience to tackle all aspects of plumbing. We can install a new faucet, countertop or toilet, or we can replace the old defective one, and we can also help you go all out and redo your bathroom. If you have old copper pipes at home, you may need to replace them, since the quality of the water in South Florida erodes them. Don't wait until your water tastes of copper. Let us check out your plumbing and let you know if it is time to redo the pipes. Some clients are tired of their bathroom and yet they cannot afford to do a complete remodel.
Although large-scale construction and remodeling jobs are a lot of fun for us to do, because that is where we can be the most creative, along with you, we are happy to take on smaller replacement and installation jobs. We fill in that gap that perhaps a larger contractor doesn't want to take on and yet is too large or precise for a handyman. You do want to have an experienced, state licensed and insured expert doing your construction, remodeling or fixing in your home or office. If all you need to do is install crown molding, we can do that for you.
A bathroom is the room that your guests will visit for sure. The guest bathroom will tell them a lot about you. Your master bathroom is the place where you get ready to face the day, where you unwind at night, your sanctuary. Whether you only change the tub and faucets, or you retile and also redo the cabinets, countertops and of course the plumbing, we will work with you to achieve what you want. We will discuss the use of the bathroom and what you want and need. This room is really the jewelry piece of your home.
A repair could be as simple as fixing a leaky faucet or toilet, or more complex. If you notice a leak, don't let it go unfixed. It could result in wasting gallons and gallons of water and it could also mean ruining the floor, walls or furniture - your own or a neighbor's - and spending a lot of money on repairs, plumbing and otherwise. We suggest that you have a plumber check your plumbing if your water bill is unusually high - you may have leaks that you dont know about. If your water tastes of copper, then your copper pipes may need to be replaced for PVC or another material.
Because in Florida houses do not typically have basements, storage often takes place in the garage, alongside the car or cars. So, when you decide to remodel your garage, you will most likely be needing storage cabinets or storage shelves. There are many ways to maximize the space that you have in your garage and put it to good use, while looking grand. During garage construction or remodeling, you will have to consider what type of floor you want, the color and texture of the walls, and perhaps even replace the garage door or have it painted a different color.
Its always a drag to find out the hard way that your water heater needs to be replaced; it is, however, necessary. In general, the average water heater will last 5-8 years in Florida. If you wait beyond that, you take a chance. Not only is the water here in Southwest Florida hard on the water heater, but water heaters also rust. There are many types (standard tank heater, tankless, and of course solar) and sizes. Also, warranties for water heaters vary. There are gas or electric heaters. They come in tall, medium, and short.
A backflow preventer in your plumbing system, prevents water that flows through your pipes to flow back into the city water instead of going to the sewer system. The way this usually works is by creating an air gap, which works by eliminating a cross-connection or provides a barrier to backflow. One of the most basic mechanisms to prevent backflow is a mechanical backflow preventer, which creates a physical barrier. The main types of mechanical backflow preventer are the reduced-pressure principle assembly, the pressure vacuum breaker assembly, and the double check valve assembly.
Most people take it for granted that the water will come out when it is turned on. But sometimes, this just doesn't happen. The water in Southwest Florida is very hard so check your shower head and make sure that the opening holes are clean. Florida water creates a lot of calcium and lime build up. Make sure you check for that before you call a plumber. If you cannot clean the holes yourself, give us a call and we will be glad to help. Another problem could be the cartridge on the rough-in valve, which is the valve behind the wall, which may need to be replaced.
During a new construction of your kitchen, you will not only need to consider the floor plan, the cabinetry, floor and countertops, to name a few. You will also need to choose new appliances. Now is the time to look into all of your options, such as energy-efficient appliances. Energy-efficient appliances are often a little more expensive from the outset but save money down the line, on your electrical bill and by using less detergent (washing machines and dishwashers) or less water. New appliances will help revamp the look and feel of your kitchen and also make it easier to run the household, since the tasks that are done in the kitchen are repetitive and time and energy consuming.
The powder bath, also known as a half-bath or the guest bathroom, is a good place to start remodeling when you are doing it step by step. This is the bathroom that your guests will visit and where you want them to feel comfortable and at home. When you choose to remodel the powder bath, you can consider using energy-efficient elements such as a dual-flush toilet, to use less water per flush. You can choose a simple sink or a more elaborate vintage look. You can have the fixtures match those of the rest of the bathrooms or you can be trendier.
Water filtration is something that many people think is very expensive, so they would rather buy water at the store. Well, let's break that down. You drive to the store, using gas. You lift and carry a case of water to your car, then have to carry into the house and store it somewhere. There is not usually a lot of extra storage space in Florida, (Being from up north I sure do miss my basement!). Then you have all the empty plastic bottles that you have to recycle. They may end up in a landfill and can stay there literally for over a hundred years that is a long time!
Have you seen the commercials where there is water filling up a house and the homeowner is floating on the water, due to a water leak? This does not have to happen to you. Believe it or not, water can come out of the strangest places and cause a lot of damage in a short time. Water leaks happen, whether under a sink, in a cabinet, an outside hose bib, a faucet drip, or an old water heater. A shower pan can break, a toilet wax seal can crack, a nail that went through a pipe in the wall rusts away and the water eventually finds the hole.
Kitchen cabinetry sets the tone for your kitchen. You can choose cabinets of different styles: elegant, modern, traditional, classical, sleek, trendy and more. Then you can choose your cabinets to be made of pine wood, cherry wood or maple wood, to name a few. Once you choose the style and finish of your cabinets, then you can consider what you want them to do for you in terms of storage. That is where organizational and storage units come in handy. Modern cabinets are made in such a way that there is a place for everything and everything is in its place.
There are a lot of options for floor construction. You may choose stone or tile for areas of high-traffic such as the living room and kitchen. Once you choose the type of floor you want keep in mind there is a wide array of price ranges, and typically the more you pay, the higher end and better quality the flooring will be. Hardwood is an excellent choice since it typically increases the value of your home, although it is not as widely used in Florida. You can choose different kinds of hardwood floor and even opt for bamboo and other exotic species, such as Australian cypress, Brazilian cherry or Teak.
There are many places to purchase a new faucet from. Whether it is price or selection that is the driving force in the decision you should remember if you supply the faucet only the labor is warranted. If the plumbing contractor supplies the faucet they have to warranty the product and the labor, so that is definitely the better deal. There are so many faucet manufacturers that we have attached links to just a few for your convenience. There are a few things to keep in mind when purchasing a new faucet: style, finish and warranty are the top three.

People have different concepts of Interior Design. Some think its a luxury and others cant live without it. Being an Interior Designer is more than just about selecting fabrics. There are Interior Designers and Interior Decorators. The difference is that there is a college degree for interior design. On the other hand, someone who is registered and licensed can call themselves an interior decorator. There is a lot of talent involved in the latter too. Our Interior Designers either hold a degree or are licensed and registered.
