Nielsen Builders, Inc. has a long history of commercial construction throughout the Shenandoah Valley and western parts of Virginia. For over 110 years, founder Joseph Nielsen and his successors have taken great pride in serving clients and creating stunning structures across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our main office is headquartered in Harrisonburg, Virginia where we serve clients such as schools and universities, hospitals, senior living facilities, churches, and many more. As an employee-owned company (ESOP) since 2007, Nielsen offers a broad range of project delivery systems including program and construction management, general contracting, and design-build and consulting services.

Nielsen Builders, through Nielsen Management Group, can provide its clients with two Construction Management opportunities. CM Agency is where Nielsen acts as the Owner's principal agent in the management of a construction project or program. Nielsen will guide the Owner through the planning, design, construction and post design phases. For CM At-Risk, Nielsen Management Group commits to delivering the project within a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). We will guide the Owner through the planning and design phases as a consultant and deliver the construction phase as the equivalent of a general contractor.

For years, Nielsen has been a leader in creating new and efficient methods for project delivery, including partnering and interactive resource scheduling. Now, Nielsen has taken this process a step further with the development of our Seamless Project Delivery System (SPDS).

Nielsen prides itself on being more than a building of fine quality facilities. We are a flexible company that offers our clients many construction service options. Nielsen brings years of experience to a clients project at the early stages called Preconstruction or Design Phase Services. For over 60 years, Nielsen has provided its clients and projects with exceptionally fine woodwork created in our very own millshop. From decorative wood base and door trim to custom cabinetry, Nielsen's state-of-the-art millshop, Legacy Cabinets, crafts its signature into each piece of wood.

One of the most important services that Nielsen provides is Design-Build Construction. Through this exciting, flexible, and client-driven process, Nielsen contracts all of the design and construction services for the project from start to finish. Our clients are the driving force behind this process as they are a vital part of planning, creating, and finalizing the project. Over the course of the project, we meet with clients and other important representatives multiple times to make sure that progress is always being made.
