MBI organizes and partners with other organizations to offer timely and important conferences and events on the lastest issues and trends affecting commercial modular construction. Topics include modular and offsite building best practices, regulatory updates, factory tours, business conduct, safety, building code issues, and much more. Commercial modular construction is helping owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors design, build, and manage space faster. The accelerated schedule of modular construction delivers buildings up to 90% complete to sites that been prepared during factory construction, cutting overall construction time by 50%.

Founded in 1983, the Modular Building Institute (MBI) is the international non-profit trade association serving modular construction. Members are manufacturers, contractors, and dealers in two distinct segments of the industry - permanent modular construction (PMC) and relocatable buildings (RB). Associate members are companies supplying building components, services, and financing. MBI strives to keep up with the latest trends of the modular/offsite construction industry and has expanded its membership over the years to include architects, owner/developers, and general contractors.

The MBI Educational Foundation and the MBI Canadian Foundation were established specifically to provide educational opportunities in the form of training, research, and scholarships to individuals with an interest in commercial modular construction. The foundation began in 2001 with a generous $100,000 gift from Barry & Mary Gossett. Mr. Gossett is an industry veteran, member of the MBI Hall of Fame, recipient of the MBI Outstanding Achievement Award, and esteemed friend to many modular building professionals.
