The leadership team from Pike Industries welcomed U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, who wanted to see firsthand the work taking place at Portsmouth International Airport. Barry Duffy, President; Alex Phelps, VP Construction; Larry Major, Government Relations and Frank Tilton, Construction Manager shared how vital it is to have our construction industry safely working to support our local and state economies. Crews at Pike have been working through the pandemic to make progress on the $24 million project for the 11,322 feet long and 150 feet wide runway which was last reconstructed in 1997.
Pike Industries Inc. was established in 1872 and developed through five generations of family leadership. After a small -- but determined -- beginning, the Company has evolved into one of the largest asphalt and aggregate materials producers in New England. Pike Industries had its start in asphalt and has over a century of paving experience behind it. We have maintained state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and facilities that are staffed with knowledgeable personnel. Over the years, the Company's operations have expanded to include divisions in aggregate production, asphalt grinding, reclamation, and a heavy highway division that handles earthwork, pipe installation, and site work.
Pike Industries Inc is Northern New England's premier paving contractor. With hot mix asphalt plants strategically located throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, we have been partnering with cities, towns, and state transportation agencies since 1872 to provide safe, smooth and durable road surfaces for the traveling public. Our numerous paving crews are based geographically throughout the region and are capable of working independently or teaming up for larger highway and commercial projects.
