Alan Smith Pool Plastering, Inc. has been a swimming pool contractor, and an active member of the Orange County community, for over 30 years. As a Southern California pool specialist, we have completed tens of thousands of renovation and new construction projects over the years for homeowners, developers, builders, and landscape architects. In addition to the renovation and new construction of pools, in late 2007 we launched a new division of the company devoted to backyard renovation. We can now provide you with the same quality and management oversight for your entire backyard design and landscaping project that built our reputation.
If you're looking for pool repair in Orange County, CA, Alan Smith Pools is a knowledgeable team of contractors that has over 35 years of experience. Whether it's patching a section of defective pool plaster, fixing some broken tiles, or replacing some separating mastic, we can handle smaller and larger repair work. We do have minimums to handle smaller repairs, but these prices go down if we are doing re-plastering work along with the repairs. One of the most common repairs customers need to be done is pool plaster repair or simply needing to replaster their entire pool.
After putting in all the hard work, investment, and energy that goes into a backyard renovation, the last thing you want to do is let it go unnoticed. Evening is the perfect time to relax, enjoy yourself, and entertain guests. Instead of installing a few large flood lights that blind your guests, wash out the details of your landscape, and consume large amounts of electricity, we suggest well-positioned landscape lighting. Landscape lighting highlights the best features of your custom pool and deck, while providing indirect lighting that is easy on the eyes.
Coping is the cap on the edge of a swimming pool or spa. It is mortared to the bond beam if it is a brick, stone, pre-cast, travertine, or paver material. Coping can also be installed by pouring concrete into forms around the pool called poured-in-place-coping. This covers the top of the bond beam, forming a frame or border around the pool. It also ideally creates a non-slip surface near the pool, as well as something for swimmers to grab onto. Once you have selected the right material for your new pool surface, and complimented it with just the right tile selection, you are ready to select your pool coping.
Water features are a wonderful way to add beauty and your own personality to your swimming pool and backyard Home Resort. Increase relaxation by drowning out that external white noise. Soothe the brain and the soul with the sound of running water. Alan Smith Pools has a variety of water features and water fountains ranging from sheet flows, lighted laminar flow fountains, in-deck jet streams, in-planter jet streams, or LED bubblers, from which you can choose. Sheet flows are one of the most popular water features for pools with raised bond beams or retaining walls that border a swimming pool.
Interlocking pool deck paving stones are an excellent substitution to the cracking and lifting concrete that many Southern California backyards are experiencing. A brand new deck of pool paving stones means you will enjoy years of low-maintenance, slip resistant, cracking free hardscape that your family and friends will enjoy. We encourage you to visit our pool paver showroom where we offer a vast array of sizes, shapes, color tones and textures to choose from. One of our ICPI trained remodeling specialists will be able to help you select the best one for your backyard.

LED pool lights use about 90% less electricity compared to the older incandescent lights. LED bulbs last much longer which reduces your replacement costs making the switch to LED worth the upfront investment. The answer to this is a definitive yes! The LED bulb generates a much cleaner, clearer and pure white light. Incandescents are known for the dull and slightly yellow hue they create. The brighter light from the LED accentuates many of the new pebble and plaster finishes we install. We have quite a few customers who upgrade to the color lights.
This one hundred percent natural quartz pool finish utilizes one of nature's hardest aggregates. The aggregates in Gemstone Sparkle Quartz Finish have no reaction to aggressive pool water environments which typically cause etching and discoloration in standard swimming pool plaster. It is further enhanced with our own proprietary Gemstone Super Matrix, polymer and pozzuolanic admixtures, which fortify our cements. Our specially formulated Inorganic Pigment System provides a beautiful line-up of lasting color options.
Owner, Alan Smith, started working as a pool plasterer in 1974 at age 19 and quickly rose up the ranks to become a foreman within a year. In 1980, Alan married Teresa and they decided what a better way to start a marriage right than to become small business owners! Teresa told Alan that if she was going to invest her life savings into the business, then it would have to be run the Nordstrom's way which means uncompromising quality and exceptional customer service. In 1981, Alan Smith Pools Plastering was founded and their first son Jeff was born.

Pool-side fire pits are a great gathering place, especially when the temperature begins to fall and the night gets darker. Plus, if you're in the market, they are an easy way to increase the value of your home, while simultaneously making it stand out from most other homes on the market. In terms of entertainment, nothing quite brightens up an outdoor pool deck like a live fire. A fire pit conjures up images of camping outdoors and gives you a welcome source of heat on colder nights. It helps make your guests feel comfortable and relax.
Did you know we offer new pool construction? We're known across the state of California for our pool resurfacing, replastering and creating wonderful outdoor living spaces. If you have an above ground pool or spa, consider investing into an in ground pool. Are you a homeowner with the land and space available that is not being used? Are you looking for something different than a "cookie cutter" pool design? Improve your lifestyle with a relaxing backyard getaway that is designed and built with your interests, wishes and needs included.
While your current heater might be working, it could also be costing you money. The older heaters are much less efficient, meaning that they require more gas than the newer heaters to heat a pool or spa the same amount. This also means it can take much longer to heat your spa. There is nothing worse than having to wait in the cold pool while your heater takes 30 minutes to heat up! The older heaters have copper heat exchangers inside. Copper does not play nice with low PH pool water! The copper will corrode from the heat exchanger and find a home on your fresh new plaster.
