HomeWorks Remodeling and General Contracting opened for business in December of 1999 by Alan and Suzanne Phillips. Alan is a life long resident of Leavenworth and is fortunate to have grown up in a family that has been in some form of construction for over 45 years. In the 15+ years of being in the remodel business we take tremendous pride in providing the highest quality workmanship to our customers. We not only develop a working relationship with our customers but a long lasting friendship as well.
One of the blessings of living in Kansas is the four seasons we enjoy: with a beautiful spring, pleasant summer evenings, gorgeous falls, and all the while it isn't uncommon to have a winter day with temperatures in the 50's. What better way to enjoy the weather than a deck? Get together with your neighbors, invite your family over, have a cookout with friends, or just unwind with your family and share after a long day. When it comes to deck construction, we've found that only the best supplies are worth using.
Is your basement a dark and dirty "dungeon" that is piled high with clutter? Do you dread having to venture downstairs to find something? As house prices have risen over the past few years, more and more people, instead of buying a new house, are converting their unfinished basements into beautiful and bright living space - sometimes almost doubling the living space of their house! Are you needing more storage space? We can build large amounts of storage space into your new living area! You'd be amazed at how much storage space is wasted by simply stacking boxes and clutter in the middle of a large room.
At some point in the ownership of a home you need more space. Whether it be due to the addition a new baby to the family, a relative moving in from another city or state, the kids fighting over that one bathroom, or the collection of to much junk over the years. It's sometimes easier and more economical to add more space than it is to pack up and move. We are able to help you design an addition that is able to fit exactly the needs you have to meet. It could be a master bedroom suite, bathroom, living room, family room, kitchen, recreation room or garage.
Do you walk outside and notice peeling paint, and say, "WOW, has it already been eight years since we painted this place?" Maybe you don't have the time to properly paint your house right now, or maybe getting up on ladders isn't something you enjoy? In the Midwest it's not easy to get a paint job to last 10-15 years (but that is something we do all the time). Paint companies have worked diligently and have made tremendous progress in the past decade to now offer paint with fantastic longevity. We at HomeWorks use the highest quality paints by Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams to provide the best exterior appearance possible.
Is your business growing? Or perhaps your church is looking to expand? We have handled a number of commercial projects - in fact, about 25% of our work is commercial construction. When your job is on the line, it is crucial to choose the right contractor. We're happy to provide references from our past projects, and since the majority of our work is here in town, our references will be local people working at local companies. Have you noticed other construction crews in town? Construction crews that you wouldn't want working at your business and being able to be heard (or seen) by your customers, or employees?
As times change so have bathroom functionality and styles. Bathrooms are no longer being viewed as simply a room in the house to wash ourselves, do hair and makeup, or perhaps brush one's teeth, they are being converted into havens of relaxation. Claw foot and cast iron tubs are being converted to Jacuzzi tubs in various shapes, designs, lengths, and depths with up to as many as 40 jets to hit every stress point on the body. The styles of toilets and vanity cabinets are immense. Your fixtures for your bathroom can now be ordered in various styles to match the toilet and pedestal sink.
If your family is anything like ours it seems the central gathering place in the home is where the food is. Family gatherings and friendly functions seem to bring everybody around the dinner table. I once read in Better Homes and Gardens magazine that (excluding sleep time) 70% of our "home time" is spent in the kitchen/dining area. Kitchens have come a long way over the years. There are endless possibilities when it comes to cabinet styles, colors of paints and stains. The new age of counter tops with Formica, Granite, Korian, tile and stone create a whole new look of today's kitchens.
