The year was 1998 in a small Colorado mountain called Leadville. I worked for a contractor doing handyman and home improvement work. After a short time, and many customer complaints regarding his absence and inability to return their calls, I spoke with him regarding their issues. I offered my opinion on how to resolve the issues, considering I was the one who was in contact with the customers. His response was, "If you think you are so smart, why don't you have your own business?" I thought about it and replied, "good point, consider this my 2-week notice."
