Modern Welding Company is the largest steel tank manufacturer in the United States fabricating aboveground and underground tanks designed to meet construction standards and your tank storage needs. Our steel products include ASME pressure vessels, aboveground and underground fuel storage tanks, petroleum and chemical storage tanks, water and grease filtration systems, structural steel, mine support arches, and custom steel plate fabrication.

Modern Welding Company, a family owned business, was founded in June 1932 by Mr. John G. Barnard. Mr. Pete, as everyone called him, attributed the success of the company to its many customers, suppliers and most of all to its loyal employees. It was Mr. Pete's heartfelt belief that his employees were the company's most essential asset, collectively they made up the "Modern Family" that shared in both difficult and profitable times of the company. Today, Modern Welding Company has 9 steel tank and vessel fabrication subsidiaries located throughout the United States, two facilities that fabricate structural steel and special custom fabrication products and 5 welding supply stores located in Kentucky and Indiana.

Modern Welding provides storage solutions for LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gases), Propane, Butane, Pentane, Aqueous Ammonia, Anhydrous Ammonia, and other gaseous products. We have the experience, capacity and flexibility to offer reliable solutions for your custom storage vessel application.

Modern Welding carries a large stock of steel angles, rectangular tubing and square tubing, channels, beams, flats, pipe, plate, sheets, expanded metal and ornamental iron in a variety of sizes and thickness. Our Steel Service Centers can also custom fabricate almost anything you need using various metal forming equipment.

Modern's staff has in-house drawings that are developed using AUTOCAD by Autodesk, computer aided drafting, for accuracy and clarity. Welding Procedures and Material of Constructions Modern has a library of up-to-date, certified, welding procedures developed for welding different kinds of ferrous and nonferrous metals. All nondestructive examinations are supervised by our in-house Level III technician and AWS Certified Welding Inspector. Modern's in-depth welder training program is conducted by an AWS Certified Welding Educator.
