Each year, we collaborate with the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) and the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families (DCF) to host the Adoption Option, a special event designed for anyone thinking of adopting children from foster care. The exciting event gives people the opportunity to get all their questions answered about this topic, with the hope of helping to find permanent families for children in state foster care. It is held each fall at our Reading Jordan's Furniture store.

Each year, hundreds of girls in-need are not able to attend the prom because of limited financial resources. The annual Belle of the Ball Program provides dresses to these girls. Teaming up with Anton's Cleaners, we reach out to people in our communities to ask if they have a prom gown, or a semi-formal, holiday or party dress to donate. Donated dresses are accepted at all Jordan's Furniture locations and at Anton's Cleaners. Anton's professionally cleans each dress, free of charge. The gowns and dresses are distributed through an "invitation only" boutique, where qualified girls can try on and select a dress.

Philanthropy is an important part of the business philosophy here at Jordan's Furniture. From the beginning, when brothers Barry and Eliot were working for the family business, and continuing today, with Eliot still at the helm, community outreach is part of our plan. Our philanthropic efforts focus on children in need, primarily within the adoption and foster care communities. In addition, we participate in and donate to many non-profit organizations and charity projects from community project sponsorships to local fundraising programs.

As one of its services, the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless (MCH) solicits donations of beds, sofas, chairs, tables, and other household essentials to give free of cost to individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanency. The MCH Donation Assistance Program and the Furniture Bank provide a "furniture clearinghouse" for families in transition. For over 10 years, Jordan's Furniture has worked closely with the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. As one of the many resources for the Donation Assistance Program, we regularly provide used and/or slightly damaged items for the program.

Jordan's Furniture is proud to participate in many philanthropic programs and partnerships. They are largely focused on children in-need and the adoption/foster care communities. We make donations and create events that assist children in under-served communities and to help find permanent homes for children/youth in foster care. The donations are distributed through area non-profits and charities who support these causes. Due to the volume of requests that are received by Jordan's Furniture every week, not all requests can be fulfilled.
