Remove all breakables. This may seem like a no-brainer when it comes to beginning a new flooring project, but it's worth making sure you have removed any items that can break easily well before installation date. Time flies and the last thing you want is for installers to be in your home, making heavy steps and moving heavy furniture that can shake the walls and possibly knock down your favorite pieces. Make sure to remove glass frames and paintings from walls! While doing this step, it's wise to remove drapes and any other wall hangings that can get in the way as well.
In soil, wool readily biodegrades to produce nitrogen, sulfur, carbon dioxide and water, which are all plant nutrients. The wool fiber's structure consists of overlapping scales, arranged much like roof shingles. These scales inhibit dirt from adhering to the fiber and help fleck it away. Wool has significantly better soil release than any other fiber. Wool cleans better, making stain protection unnecessary. Godfrey Hirst is one of the largest wool manufacturers in the world, so it can provide an exceptional selection of value priced carpets.
There are many species of hardwood. Each has its benefit depending on desired look, color, and durability. Not all species are equally hard. If your floor is in a high traffic area or a heavily used room then you should consider oak, maple, or ash. Traditional oak has more variations in grain and shade while maple is cleaner and more understated. There are exotic species such as Tigerwood, Brazilian cherry, and Santos Mahogany with a unique combination of origin, colors, and characteristics. Hardwood flooring colors run from almost white to black, with browns, tan, reds, and grays in between.
