Vintage Timberworks deals recycled, reclaimed wood, seasoned old growth lumber, antique barn beams, barn wood, vintage barn siding, reclaimed timbers, rustic wood mantels, antique wood flooring and architectural elements. Reclaimed wood is derived from the de-construction of antiquated wood structures where lumber has been "warehoused" for decades to centuries. Our recycled lumber products include west coast US and Canadian species such as Douglas fir, larch, redwood, and cedar. The Midwest and east coast vintage hardwood products include red oak, white oak, chestnut, elm, ash, walnut, poplar and other hardwood species.
We stock an inventory of over a million board feet of recycled lumber, antique beams, rustic barn siding, vintage mantles, reclaimed wood flooring and other reclaimed wood products. Some of our recently received inventory is represented in the albums below. Please note: This represents only a small portion of our overall reclaimed wood inventory. We offer our material milled into a variety of species, textures, and edge profiles to be used as exterior siding. Whether you are looking for a rustic or a contemporary application, please inquire about your options with our knowledgeable staff. Prices will vary depending the material used and profile selected. Our most popular rustic exterior siding is milled with our "Gray Board" and "Douglas Fir" planking because of consistency, availability, and available lengths. For a more rustic and varied look, some people choose our "Oak Barn Planking" which comes in a variety of colors and shorter lengths.
Vintage Timberworks offers a wide variety of unique products made from reclaimed wood which are showcased below by category. The vintage wood products including recycled lumber, reclaimed beams, wood mantels and wood flooring are available in both "as is" and re-manufactured condition. Please allow yourself a considerable lead time when ordering, as most vintage products made from reclaimed wood are custom tailored to meet your architectural requirements and require particular attention to detail.
Our skilled crew has perfected the art "disassembling" solid antique timbers and reassembling them into hollow timbers without discernible seams. Virtually indistinguishable from solid timbers, our custom fabricated box beams are a great choice for customers looking to wrap existing framing or want the look of solid timbers without the weight. Due to the labor and waste involved in manufacturing, box beams are typically more expensive than solid beams. They are typically the best option for applications that require the wrapping of exposed structural elements such as glu-lams, steel I-beams, and steel columns.
We offer a wide selection of exquisite wood flooring milled from wood sourced from around the world including reclaimed Indonesian Teak, rustic barn Oak, Wormy Chestnut, Australian Iron Bark, and CVG Douglas fir to name a few. Milling the material on site means we have the ability to custom tailor the flooring to meet the customer's needs. Many products are available either solid or engineered and patterns include wide plank, narrow plank, random widths, herringbone, and parquet. Truss fabrication with reclaimed timber is truly an art form. Due to its character, the timbers are inherently uneven, lack uniformity, and can include some degree of twisting. It takes a master carpenter to be able to join the material like this together so that it looks like it has been there forever. Vintage has the technology and personnel to fabricate stunning trusses for you ready for assembly onsite or ship the completed trusses ready to crane in place. Our resaw is primarily used to split material rapidly and with great accuracy. It is typically used to split 2″ thick reclaimed lumber into two individual 3/4″ pieces each with one old face. In essence, you create double the amount of coverage for one face applications such as roof decking and cabinet stock. With a minimum thickness of about 3/8″, we can also set the saw up to thickness gauge material at whatever thickness you wish. As with the trusses, creating open beam ceilings and roofs using reclaimed beams can be challenging. The carpentry needs to be done with skill and precision so that the roof has the appearance of having always been there and not just some old timbers slapped together for effect. If your carpenters are not up for the challenge, ours are. The roof system is carefully cut and assembled here at the yard. It is then labeled and disassembled for delivery. This takes a lot of the guesswork out of the building process.
Vintage Timberworks is the result of many years of experience in building fine custom homes coupled with our continuing quest searching for the finest reclaimed antique wood available throughout North America. With our combined 70 years experience in building high end homes and supplying reclaimed wood, we are confident we can provide you guidance in the application of our reclaimed products to a wide variety of architectural styles. With our on-site milling operation, Vintage is capable of creating many different surface appearances on our recycled wood products including hand hewn, sanded, surfaced, and sawn reclaimed lumber products.
Over the years Vintage has developed a number of sanding devices and techniques designed for detailing the uneven surfaces of rustic material. As most of these tools are custom built right down to the sandpaper, you won't be able to find them anywhere else in the industry. We can lightly sand the surface leaving most of the patina and character or sand off most of the original surface to a smooth or raised grain appearance. These sanders have the capacity to sand material up to 24″ thick x 36″wide.
