The widely accepted definition of sustainability states that the practices to meet the needs of today must not compromise the next generation's ability to meet theirs. Sustainability is not a destination but a journey filled with constant improvement and design innovation. At U.S. Rubber, we have a sustainability mindset at every level of our operations. Our innovative rubber sport flooring, acoustical underlayment and vegetation control products, and the manner in which we manufacture them, improve the environment, conserve natural resources and enrich lives.
For the product categories of sports flooring, acoustical underlayment and vegetation control matting, U.S. Rubber is California's largest user of recycled crumb rubber. In 2019, we diverted 5,120,322 pounds of discarded tires away from California landfills. This former waste stream was converted into a feedstream, which created a second life for such materials, reducing the need for virgin materials to produce our products. Embedding the sustainable practice of waste diversion into our business model is only half the story.
